Lor Brand started beading in 2019 to connect with her Métis heritage and community. Growing up as a visibly white person outside of her Métis community, she was unsure if she was allowed to identify as Métis. Once she realized that she was assimilating herself, she took steps to start beading, and has never felt more connected to community, her ancestors and herself.
Lor wanted to create a brand that stood out amongst other bead companies. By creating a system that avoided conventional design, but still pays homage to the craft of indigenous bead work, the brand is able to stand out as a modern, innovative direction of the craft.
